:: Club History ::
The Anime Club has been around since at least 2002; however, not much is known about the club prior to 2007.
:: 2007-2008 ::
In 2007, the club had reached the lowest it had been (at least from what this historian has been told). The weekly attendance was, at most, 10 people. The club only screened 2 series a week for 3 hours, on Saturdays from 2PM to 5PM. At the end of the year, the anime club scheduled its first convention trip to Tora-con, where plans on the new leaders and how to run the club were established.
:: 2008-2009 ::
Under new eboard leadership, the club reorganized itself to provide more opportunities and a better environment to its club members. Utilizing new advertising tactics, the GIM attracted over 60 people. Over the course of the year, the number of attendees slowly dwindled until the weekly club attendance was around 40 people. The meetings were held on Mondays for 2 hours in Fine Arts 258, a theatre-like room.
The newest aspect to anime club was the membership cards, which would allow people to rent out items from an online library. Not only were items donated by the eboard themselves, but members also contributed to the cause. The membership card discount for that year applied to Made in Japan, a store down the parkway from campus that sold various anime and gaming goods (the store closed in November of that year).
Games were also introduced to the club, allowing for more interactivity during club. Two cons were planned for the year, both of which attracted over 25 people. LANime and Maid Cafe were two social events organized by the Anime Club to provide more entertainment for club members.
:: 2009-2010 ::
For this year, the role of Vice President was removed as an eboard position and webmaster was created added as an eboard position.
Keeping the same tactics as the previous year, the 2009-2010 eboard expanded on what the club had to offer. AMV and Costume Contests were introduced, and although the fall Costume Contest was postponed due to lack of preparation, the AMV contest attracted 8 entries. A new convention was introduced to the fall: Zenkaikon, located on the outskirts of Philadelphia, PA.
