:: Costume Contest! ::
New to the 2009-2010 school year, B.U.A.C. will be hosting its very own costume contest! The concept is very simple: dress up like your favorte anime or video game character, and show us! You will be judged based on resemblance and craftsmanship.
This semester's costume contest is scheduled to be during LANime: Saturday, April 10, 2010.
You will sign up for the costume competition during LANime. Winners will be announced during a walk-on event later that night. It is not mandatory to attend the walk-on. If you do not wish to participate in the contest but would still like to walk-on, feel free to talk to the contest coordinators.
:: Contest Rules ::
- Costume judging will be on a first come first serve basis. The current days and hours of judging are to be determined at a later date.
- Costumes that have placed in conventions or have received a high award, such as best in show, best in division, first place, etc., are not allowed to participate. Sorry!
- All costumes must pertain in some way to a character, object, or otherwise, that is depicted in anime, manga, anime-style video games. Original costumes will not be permitted, as the accuracy of the costume is impossible to judge.
- Costumes that contain any sort of pyrotechnics or other hazardous materials are not allowed.
- No electrical power connections will be provided. If your costume requires power it must be part of your costume design.
- Purchased, professionally made, or rented costumes are prohibited. Costumes consisting mostly or entirely of store bought items are also ineligible. Participants should be prepared to briefly explain the process through which their costume was created.
- Each contestant may only present one costume.
- Contestants are strongly encouraged to bring reference material for their costume. While we will not turn away entries that do not bring reference material, the absence of reference material could greatly affect your final score. Not all judges know all characters, so it is in everyone's best interest to bring a color picture (or several) if at all possible. The reference should depict the details of the costume you are presenting.
