:: AMV Contest! ::
New to the 2009-2010 school year, we are introducing Binghamton's own AMV contest! We're sure that you, at one point, have been interested in making an AMV. Who hasn't? Our contest will allow video editors of any skill their chance to show their genius. Never edited a video before? Neither have most of the people around you! Your first video could be a winner!
This semester's AMV contest is TBD.
:: Contest Rules ::
Like any other contest, there are a series of rules that must be followed:
- Each entrant is allowed 1 submission into each of the video categories (romance, comedy, drama, action), allowing for a maximum of 4 entries.
- When submitting your video, please make sure you specify the correct category. Any videos that are miscategorized will have a less likely chance to win for that category.
- Collaboration is allowed, but collaborators are not allowed to enter another video in the same category.
- Entries are allowed on any playable media file.
- Do not include an introduction or credits. We will create a short segment between each submission including the information you provide.
- Your submission must contain footage from either an anime or video game. The only exception are any scenes taken from a live-action adaptation of an anime, video game, or manga.
- Your submission's audio must primarily be music. Narration is allowed to an extent. We reserve the right to disqualify videos with excessive narration.
- Audio from movie trailers are not allowed (doesn't take a genius to make a Brokeback Mountain AMV).
- Any narration must not be from an English anime dub. Japanese audio is fine. Any narration you do yourself is also acceptable.
- Subtitles are not allowed unless they are done by yourself.
- Your submission must be at least 30 seconds in length, but shorter than 6 minutes in length.
- The AMVs are screened to the club. While we are certain some club members do not mind, please keep nudity, excessive violence, and offensive language to a minimum. We reserve the right to disqualify any AMV that appears inappropriate to screen. Scenes from hentais are allowed as long as they do not contain sex (if you can pull off an AMV based on a hentai without sex scenes you are amazing).
- If you submit an entry, you do not have to be at the club meeting the week we plan to hold the contest. However, by not attending you give up the right to vote in the contest.
- The better quality of the video you give us, the better it will look. Remember, we are not showing these on computer monitors. They are being displayed on a projector.
- E-Board members are allowed to participate in the contest.
- Judging of contest entries will be done by your fellow peers. We ask that you do not bribe/coerce/force/threaten people to vote for your entry.
:: How to Enter ::
Submissions will be accepted in club any time up to one week before the contest. Please bring your submission on a CD or flash drive, and please name the submission (Name)_(Video_Title). Flash drives will either be returned at that meeting or the following week, please put any and all contact information on the flash drive so we know who it belongs to. Within the CD or AMV file folder, please attach a notepad file with the following information:
- Name
- Any collaborators
- Video title
- Category
- Name of song used as well as the artist
- The anime/animes you used in the video
And most importantly...
